Women are making strides in the work arena. They are competing with men and proving themselves as competent, decisive and enterprising. They are working with them on a shoulder-to-shoulder basis in a very professional manner. They are committed to their work, take their work very seriously and excel in what they do.
Women are asserting themselves in workplace and being feminine does not affect their work output. They contribute well. They are dedicated and sincere in their approach and fight for their equal rights in terms of equal pay, maternities benefits and work hours. They raise their voice against any discrimination on the basis of sex.
Men are now accepting women on par with them although some still have reservations about their capabilities. Women do have a difficult time in proving their worth, as their femininity comes in the way. Men feel they are the “weaker” sex and cannot compete with them equally. Yet, it is a reality that women are there to earn and employers have to take them seriously.
How do women assert themselves in the workplace?
- Women expect equal pay. In developing countries many women, particularly the laborers, are getting less than men. Social activists are raising their voice against this discriminatory practice. Women work the same hours with the same output and expect the same remuneration
- Demand is also made for benefits such as maternity leave, part-time hours of work etc
- Women are professional in their approach. They equip themselves with requisite skills
- They are overcoming the stereotype images of them at work place
- They are sincere in their work. Since they are aware that they have to assert themselves they remain dedicated to their work. They do not shirk their work responsibilities
- Women do not take advantage of their femininity. They underplay it
- Women dress appropriately. They avoid male attention at workplace
- Several forums are there for them to voice their grievances. Organizations serving the interests of women help them in their endeavors to cope up with male discrimination. Respective Governments have also set up Equal Pay Commissions to ensure that there is no disparity in incomes between men and women
Women have a long way to go in proving their merit and convincing men that they can take on any work with equal ease. They need not confine themselves to traditional work meant for women. They are undertaking work which uptil now felt they must perform.

I am finding the statements below as ‘typical’.
Women are professional in their approach. They equip themselves with requisite skills
They are sincere in their work.
Women do not take advantage of their femininity. They underplay it.
How can you make such general statements?
Also, you said ‘Women have a long way to go in proving their merit and convincing men that they can take on any work with equal ease.’ Why should women convince men?
