It’s difficult to find anybody who doesn’t love jewelry of some sort. Jewelry helps to create an image and to define a personal style statement.The type of jewelry anybody wears says a lot about their personality and taste.

Beware of false jewelers
It is very important to select a good dealer before buying your jewelry.Take some pains to find out that the jeweler is trustworthy. Some tips to follow to be on the safer side while buying jewelry:

  • A good dealer should be your first priority and first step in a jewelry hunt.Select a good dealer ,preferably a reputed brand name that you can trust.
  • Always ask your relatives and friends for some information on jewelry dealers.Such additional information will always come handy when you need some advice.
  • Make sure that the dealer has been in this business for at least two years.New jewelers may not be that trustworthy.
  • An important factor to watch out for is the quality and authenticity of the jewelry.Be sure about the quality and purity of the jewelry .Buying jewelry is a huge investment ,so it should be done with care .
  • Check out the prices of the dealer to see whether they are reasonable.
  • Check out the range of jewelry that the dealer has.Some dealers may be good and trustworthy ,but there may not be many designs and styles to choose from and u will be left with limited choice.So check out the collection in the jewelry store.
  • Ask the jewelry dealer whether he has properly handled all outstanding complaints with the Better Business Bureau? (Also call the BBB in your area to check out.)
  • When buying gold,always check for the purity of gold with the help of a karat meter or some other device.
  • When buying diamonds,ask your jewelry dealer whether each diamond comes with a grading certificate from any one of the respected gem labs like GIA(The Gemological Institute of America), AGS, or EGL,etc ?
  • Check whether the dealer is offering any guarantees or return facilities.
  • Ask your jeweler whether you can get your full expected price later on in case you decide to resell your jewelry .
  • Some of the terms used by the dealer may sound confusing to u. Don’t let this deter you from your buying jewelry.Ask your jeweler what those terms mean clearly.
  • Never forget to take a receipt of all the items you buy.Keep it with u for future use.
