Gun possession is legal in America but more than 40 percent of the population has been cited to not keep their guns locked. Kids aged eight and below know the difference between a toy and real gun and toddlers win the cake by being able to pull the triggers. What safety are we really providing to our kids is the question adults should ask themselves.
Safety Tips for Gun Possession
To keep your family and yourself safe follow the steps below:
- Teach your kids to never play around with real guns and to give them back to some elderly person if they found one
- If your kids visit other homes, friends talk to other parents about gun safety
- You should take every gun to be loaded
- Try storing the guns in a safe and hidden place away from the kids and make sure that it is unloaded
- Hide the keys so that kids don’t get to the gun
- Keep ammunitions locked and away from guns
- Do not store guns in your house if someone staying with you is mentally disturbed, depressed or violent
To avoid accidents, keep guns and ammunition locked, unloaded and hidden especially from kids.
